Security Camera CZ

Camera is offline

This error messages appears when the monitor loses a contact with the camera. Monitor periodically contacts the camera and if the camera does not respond within one minute, the monitor shows this camera as offline.

What causes this problem

There can be several reasons why response from the camera does not arrive:

  • The camera has lost internet connection.
  • The application on the camera is down.
  • The whole smartphone (camera) is down.

How to solve this issue

When the camera lost internet connection, you can wait until the connection reinstates. The application tries periodically to restore WiFi connection, so there is a high probability that when internet connection is temporarily lost, the smartphone that you use as the camera will reconnect to WiFi again. The application has a built in monitor of internet connection quality, so you can easily check if the internet connection drops often or exceptionally, if quality of the connection is excellent, good or bad etc. To open the connection quality monitor, go to the camera settings and choose "Quality of connection…" item.

When the application on the camera is down, there isn't much you can do remotely. Some smartphones unfortunately decide, time by time, to terminate long running apps. Some smartphones do this, while other smartphones do not do this. When a camera app is suddenly terminated by the Android, it stops to respond and monitor shows this camera as offline. The only solution is to go to the camera and launch the app again. Even better is to restart the whole smartphone. The best prevention against this behaviour is to have the smartphone clean, without other apps that run on the smartphone and that consume resources. If there are many apps installed, it is recommended to clean the smartphone from these apps. The best solution is to make a factory reset of the smartphone as described here.

When the whole smartphone is down, it is almost always caused by outage of power or problem with the USB charger or charging cable. When a smartphone stops to be charged, it runs on its battery for some period of time. This period differs smartphone by smartphone, but usually it is about 6-8 hours. After that, when the charging does not reinstate, the battery becomes empty and the smartphone turns off. Event when the power is renewed later and the smartphone's battery becomes fully charged again, Android smartphone usually do not start automatically. A power button must be pushed to start the smartphone manually. Please note that when the smartphones is turned on, the application is automatically started only on smartphones with Android 11 or older. On Android 12 or newer it is not possible to auto-start the application automatically on smartphone reboot. When the smartphone is turned on again, check that the USB charger and the charging cable are in good condition and correctly plugged into the smartphone.
