Detection area
Although the camera detects movements quite well without any further settings, you can improve the detection using additional settings described in this article. The main goal of this setting page is to avoid false positive alarms which can be often bothering and which generates unwanted recordings.
The grid
You will achieve the best results in detection of object if you adjust the grid so that the expected intruder/object fits in about one or two fields. By setting the grid this way you will get the best detection efficiency.

The size of the grid doesn't need to be exact size of expected intruder. One or two blocks are quite ok.
The mask
Using the mask you can mark areas (squares) that you want to exclude from motion detection. Good candidates for excluding are naturally moving objects in the view, like curtains, trees, sky with clouds etc. You can also exclude areas where you expect that lights and shadows will quickly change, because quick changes in light can also generate an alarm.

Even more fine setting
There are even more settings which you can use in special use cases. You can find these settings in the section "Limit when an alarm triggers":
☑ An alarm is triggered when motion is detected in at least X areas.
If you mark this option then the alarm will be triggered only when motion is detected in several (more than one)
areas (squares). For instance, if you set up "3" in this option, then recording will not be triggered until motion
is detected in 3 or more squares at once.
☑ Only adjacent areas are considered.
You can even more precise the option above by saying that the squares must be next to each other. For instance, in
the example above, if the camera detects motion in two squares on the left side of the view and two squares on the
right side of the view (totally 4 squares), alarm will not be triggered, because all these 4 squares does not
neighbour with each other.
☑ If motion is detected in more than X areas, an alarm is not triggered.
Another option which you can use alone or with combination with the options above. By using this option you can
say that alarm is not triggered if the camera detects motion in too many squares at once. For example, your camera
watches a landscape and you want to detect small objects in the landscape. When the sun suddenly sets, the whole
landscape can suddenly become much darker and the camera detects this change in light in all squares at once. You
can avoid such false alarm by using this option.
